CaptureThe Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria (GOCMV) is a non-profit organization located in Melbourne, Australia. The organization was established by Melbourne's first Greek residents during the early 1890's and is now a major organization serving the Melbourne Greek community. It is the oldest Greek organization in Australia and the second oldest Greek organization among the diaspora worldwide. The group assisted their members in the completion of the National Census which was completed via online and printed versions. The decision was made by the community's Board of Directors, who felt it essential to that members fill out the Census correctly. The Census took place on 9 August and saw many Greeks in the community take an interest in the process. Those who needed help to fill out either the digital online census or the printed version could take their letter which contained a twelve-digit code issued by the Census Office to the organization, where community staff, board members, and volunteers would assist them to complete the process. Census results have a major impact on the government's policy, the future of Australia, and all policies regarding Greek-Australians.
