The Hellenic Initiative (THI) is leading the way for the Greek-American community when it comes to increasing peoples' awareness, as well as investment capital, relating to Greece, as underlined at the organization's 4th annual gala whose theme this year was titled "Empowering the Future of Greece." on 29th September.
The Hellenic Initiative raises funds which are then invested in entrepreneurial programs in Greece. The funds also go towards supporting Greek NGO's, which go towards helping those less privileged in Greece, especially children. The gala was an opportunity to honor and acknowledge incredible individuals that have supported Greek people in need.
Admiral Jim Stavridis was the keynote speaker at the event. He is known as a former Commander of NATO and Dean of the Fletcher School at Tufts University.
Greek-American actor, Chris Diamantopoulos, known for his role in "Silicon Valley" and as the voice of Disney's Mickey Mouse, hosted the event.
Amongst a string of special guests were Greek and US Summer Olympic medalists Eleftherios Petrounias (GRE), Aikaterini Stefandi (GRE), Spyridon Gianniotis (GRE) and Helen Maroulis (The USA).
Approximately $3.5 million have been granted by THI. The commitment has been pledged to help aid crisis relief efforts and to help produce more employment opportunities. A further $6.2 million has been allocated from the Hellenic Entrepreneurship Awards towards funding entrepreneurship programs. The Libra Group proudly support the setup.
THI was established back in 2012 and has gained itself a reputation as an outstanding global, non-profit, secular institution mobilizing the Greek Diaspora and Philhellene community with a goal of assisting sustainable economic repair and renewal for Greek people. The THI program tackles crisis relief via secure nonprofit companies. Also, THI seeks to improve business leaders' entrepreneurial skills to create a new generation of leaders.
