Spirits are high as the 10th Annual Los Angeles Greek Film Festival enjoyed a star-studded night at the closing night Orpheus Award Ceremony, held June 5th. The event was located at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. The event was a great opportunity for people to appreciate and recognize talent.
The award ceremony saw two awards for 20th Century Fox CEO and Chairman Jim Gianpulos, and successful actor J.K Simmons. Just before the awards ceremony 'Worlds Apart', a Greek box office hit directed by Christopher Papakaliatis premiered in the United States.
Also, many Greek sponsors and businesses were present at the closing ceremonies. Kelly Vlahakis-Hanks, Earth Friendly Products CEO, gave the 'Van Vlahakis Award for Innovation in Film' in respect of her late father and green pioneer Dr. Van Vlahakis, who was the great founder of the company.
Greek-Estonian, Mena Suvari, hosted the successful night. An extravagant after-party for all of the guests followed the awards ceremony. The after party was said to go on into the early hours of the morning as the stars enjoyed unlimited bottles of champagne and the finest whiskey.
The night is well known for its luxurious features and entertainment, and each year it seems to get better. This year attendees apparently received 'goody-bags' worth an impressive $300 that included many exclusive products and promotions popular in the celebrity world.
Evan Spiliotopulos, Yorgos Karamihos, and Christos Vasilopoulous were also some other Greek Hollywood names that attended this year's prestigious event. Each year the festival has been multiplying in size and importance since it held its first event back in 2007. This year organizers of the event celebrated a fantastic decade of Greek filmmakers and cinema in Hollywood.
