The ultimate sports event, 'The Santorini Experience,' takes place for the second consecutive year in the picturesque village of Santorini this October. It has been well-organized by the Santorini Municipality, Municipal Sports Cultural & Environmental Organization in Santorini (DAPPOS), and Active Media and offers running and swimming events for the participants.
Competitors can take part in open water swimming and running routes in Santorini. The open water swimming starts from the volcano and stretches to the port of Fira. The route has been carefully planned out and selected by Olympic swimmer, Nikos Gemelos, who is also the Technical Director of the swimming event.
Other top sportsman will take part this year, including Spyros Giannatos, an Olympic Champion open water swimmer. World Champion open water swimmer, Kelly Araozou, will be also there to compete. Other leading athletes who will take the challenge along swimming route, include Antonis Fokaidis, Giorgos Arniakos and Dimitris Negris.
Several running routes will be available as contestants put on their running shoes. In Santorini, they will run the scenic path between Oia and Fira, with breathtaking views of the Caldera. Hopefully, the sea breeze will cool them down. The routes have been chosen by Nikos Polias, who is a former marathon runner, and holder of the record for the classical route. He is now a running coach and the Manager of 'All About Running,' and is the Technical Director of the running event.
Don't miss out on the ultimate sports event from 7-9 October 2016, Santorini.
