The Rio Olympics have now closed as Greece proudly takes home six Olympic medals, three of them being the gold!
Anna Korakaki won our first medal at the Rio Olympics for her participation in the Women's ten-meter air pistol competition and took third place with a bronze. Her performance in the women's twenty-five-meter pistol shooting event got her the gold. She is the only Greek female athlete to have won multiple medals at the Olympics in the same year.

In the still rings gymnastics event, our very own Eleftherios Petrounias received a gold medal for his flawless routine. His event was such a success; he has even been dubbed as the new "Lord of the Rings."

Katerina Stefanidi took the gold for her pole vault event where she cleared 4.85 meters. It was a very tight race between her and American pole vaulter, Sandi Morris. Another tight race for Greece was the Men's long distance swimming marathon. The race ended in a tie for Spyridon Gianniotis, who was the oldest competitor, but gave his best which won him the silver medal.
Our Greek sailors, Pavlos Kagialis and Panagiotis Mantis, brought a bronze medal home after gaining third place in the Men's 470 sailing competition.
We couldn't be more proud of all our Athletes who represented our nation and those who gave outstanding performances and brought home six Olympic medals.
